I left them alone for a week or two, and they sank in the middle. I don't know if that is because of the pom-poms I used to try to make the 'whipped cream' look raised or what happened. I put pieces of a coffee stirrer in the two reddish shakes, because they bugged me the most. Somewhere I have a collection of sample spoons that I've gathered for my dolls, and I'll use one of those to go with the blue shake.
My first. . ah, okay, second attempt at making doll food (if I said first elsewhere, I just remembered I attempted to make some salt dough doll food years ago. . It, um, didn't work out like I had hoped. . .). Sorry for the blurry picture.. Three shakes, blueberry cream, raspberry, and strawberry. It's not quite done yet, I'm hoping to finish it tomorrow. That is what I'm hoping it will look like when I'm done with it. *UPDATE* An update, albeit a very late update... I have forgotten to work on my website lately. I did finish the tank top a couple days after starting work on it. I think it turned out very cute. Here's a picture: No, I never made the matching headband, but I did make the fingerless gloves. They are a bit snug getting on, but I like the look. *Goes off to look for a more recent picture* Hmm. . . I don't seem to have taken a picture of this set after I found a pair of jeans to go with it. No, I never made a pair to match . . . yet. . I'll have to get a picture at some point today, probably after updating my blog the rest of the way.
To see more pictures of the shirt, and/or read about how I made it, scroll up to the menu bar, hover over the Sewing & Craft Projects button, and click on 8-1-13 ~Pretty Tank Top. Or you can click on either of the two links in this post. Serra was napping, so Katara volunteered to assist with the photo taking. She is wearing the Halter . . . skirt? as a one shoulder dress. She exchanged the drawstring for a child's chain necklace. With her is Candy and Mouse who turned out to be fairly good-sized for the American Girl doll (okay, Mouse might be a little big, but he's still cute).
We were gone most of yesterday, so I didn't get anything new done. Maybe I can get that tank top done tonight. Yesterday evening I was getting ready to sew some more doll clothes, when I found a book I hadn't seen in a long time while looking for lace and velcro. I flipped through it, and found two patterns I really wanted to try. So a while later, after looking around for batting and felt, I made up a Stuffed Cat and Mouse. I'm thinking they're a bit big for my American Girls, but one never knows. . . Perhaps I'll get a picture of them with Serra when I take a picture of her in the sandals I repaired. Tonight maybe. Anyway, I didn't post them last night because I tried to do a doll shirt too, but it got to be too late to work on it thanks to supper and TV. I'm hoping to finish that tonight too.
To see pictures of the stuffies, and/or read about how I made them, scroll up to the menu bar, hover over the Sewing & Craft Projects button, and click on 7-30-13 ~Stuffed Cat and Mouse. Or you can click on either of the two links in this post. You may not know it by looking at this picture, but the sandal on the right was almost entirely in pieces yesterday. All that was still stuck to the sole was one part of a strap and the insole. Using some Loctite super glue, I was able to fix it. So now Serra has a pair of sandals to go with her new dress! :D
I like how effective Loctite is, but I hate it when I get it on my fingers. Today marks the second time I nearly glued my fingers together! The packaging says that cooking oil is supposed to help get it off, but I tried using a little bit of olive oil, and that didn't work, so I tried vegetable oil, but that didn't work either... Sigh... I'll just have to wait until it decides to comes off on it's own. . . Enough of my trouble.. To see more pictures of the sandals, and/or read about how I repaired them, scroll up to the menu bar, hover over the Sewing & Craft Projects button, and click on 7-30-13 ~Repairing Sandals. Or you can click on either of the two links in this post. So I'm trying to get back into crafting and sewing. I used to do a bit of beading, drawing, and thinking about sewing, but I've had a hard time getting back to it since we moved... Anyway, I'm going to try to do at least one crafty thing a day. Today's item is actually two items. Two different halter tops, and at least one can double as a skirt. :D As I craft/sew things I want to create a sort of online journal cataloging my progress with one page dedicated to whatever it is I do, plus a blog entry on my blog here.
When I set up the page for the tops yesterday, I didn't think about starting a blog to go along with it, which is why yesterday's post is being posted today. Anyhow, if you'd like to see more pictures of the tops, and/or read about how I made it, scroll up to the menu bar, hover over the Sewing & Craft Projects button, and click on 7-29-13 ~No sew halter tops. Or you can click on either of the two links in this post. Enjoy! So I'm trying to get back into crafting and sewing. As of right now, my sewing skills are pretty much non-existent, so my creations probably won't be the best (plus I'm using old thread that my old sewing machine likes to spit up :( ), but I'm going to try anyway. I also want to eventually have a list of all of the dolls I've collected in the Meet the Girls directory. So far I have my LeeAnn, Ginger Brook Hollow, Magic Attic, and American Girl dolls posted. I still need to finish putting up pictures of my Carpatina Ana Ming, Battat, Gotz Kimberly, My Twinns, and then I need to finish putting up the descriptions for all of them. I also want to have a few more pictures and maybe some stories of some sort for my AGs and MACs (they are my favorites, and the ones I do the most with). Oops, I guess I got a little long winded. . . hehe. . . Anyway, I hope you'll enjoy reading and following along, should you choose too. Whether you do or not, I hope you enjoy looking around! Thanks for visiting! :D |
