10-15-13 ~Making a necklace
One of the TV shows my family (particularly my mom and I) like to watch is NCIS. We've been watching it for quite a few years now. My mom recently bought a doll that looks just like Abby from the show (and yes, my mom named her Abby, as will I when I can find another of that doll for myself), and we were thinking up ways to collect things for Abby that would symbolize the rest of Team Gibbs (for those who don't watch the show, the squad is Team Leader Gibbs (likes to build boats), Tony (irritating, and I won't start. . .), McGee (loves computers), and Ziva (former Israeli Mossad) -but Abby (forensic scientist) and Ducky (medical examiner) regularly help Gibbs and his squad solve cases). Somewhere in our things we each have a rubber ducky, and we thought a ship in a bottle (reminiscent of something Gibbs said when he was asked how he got the boat out of his basement), a goldfish named Kate (Tony's pet), a computer, and a necklace like what Ziva always wore would be nice for our doll version of Abby to have.
My mom had a $5 off coupon from her birthday for Artbeads.com, so when we used that last week, we made sure to include a gold chain (Artbeads sells their chain in foot-long sections), 2 clasps, 4 rings, and 2 Gold star of David pendant (I looked on eBay and found a necklace similar to this one that I made -the seller wanted $8 plus shipping for one necklace. The supplies I bought to make my mom and I a necklace costed about $3 for both necklaces. Cool, huh?) in our order.
