10-3-2014 - Maxi Skirt
Last month, when I was looking through my fabric, I found a piece of something I really liked, but wasn't sure if I could do much with. I finally decided to do something with it. Both Shay and Nali look really good with it. I looked through our patterns, but couldn't find anything I liked, so I decided to go without. In hindsight, I went about sewing this the wrong way (and even if it isn't the wrong way, it was the more difficult way).
As it was basically a rectangle, I sewed it up the short side to make a tube. Then I hemmed the most even of the two sides that were left, leaving enough room to thread some elastic in, making a waistband. Then I tried it on a doll, and cut a little slit in the bottom where I wanted the hem to be, and after removing it from the doll, I cut and hemmed it. Here's the result:

It does have a minor hi-lo thing going on, since I wasn't very precise when cutting the hem, but it's really cute, in my humble opinion. There was a little bit of fabric left, which I'll make into a bandeau of sorts.
