10-27-13 -Kirsten's Crutch
My American Girl Kirsten doll has, over the years, been well loved. Not that I've been rough with her, even as a child I was careful with my toys. More recently though, her limbs, legs in particular, have gotten very loose, to the point where she can't really stand on her own anymore. I did repair her once before, but it must've wore out. I don't want to send her to the AG Doll Hospital (or really, any doll hospital), because I'm afraid she might get lost or squashed in transit. I like all my AGs, but Kirsten is special, as she is my first AG.... Anyway, back to her leg problem. . . I have a pair of American Girl crutches somewhere, but I don't know where exactly, and the last time I saw them the parts that go under her arms and the grips she holds one to were sticky for some reason, and I don't want her getting sticky. Poor girl has enough problems as it is. Besides the leg problems, she has a perpetual bruise (I believe it's ink set in) on her left elbow that I have no idea how it got there (it's been there for a few years now, I think), and more recently, a couple ink(?) marks that I also have no idea how they got there on her right calf and ankle. . . grr. . .
Again, anyway. . . . a solution to the weak-legs-and-sticky-AG-crutches problem. :D

My mom and I were working outside tonight before it got dark, and one of the things we cleaned up was a tree that was trying to grow next to our garage. We cut it down, and then I claimed two pieces of it's still small trunk. One I have yet to decide its purpose, but the other became her new crutch. And, as you can see, she's standing on her own again (sort of...)!
It's a little snug around her arm, but that's okay, as hopefully it will work better than if it were loose. Plus, the branch crutch is pretty cool, and it's unique! :D
